What happens once I have made an appointment?

Appointments can be made either directly or by your GP. You will receive details of your appointment either by post or by email as requested by you. The package you will receive will include a few forms to fill in and bring with you in order to ensure that your consultation runs smoothly. The information you provide will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

What does the consultation involve?

The consultation will involve a detailed assessment of your problem and the possible risk factors which may be associated with it. A physical examination will be conducted as part of your assessment and there may be a requirement for blood tests. The Consultation may last up to 40 minutes.

Is there an additional cost for blood tests?

All necessary blood tests are included.

Will I receive treatment immediately?

On most occasions it is possible to commence treatment on the same day as the consultation. If blood tests have been requested then it may be necessary to await the outcome of such tests before therapy can begin.

What happens after my consultation?

You will receive a copy of your medical report a few days after your consultation. You may request this to be delivered by email if you wish. If blood tests have been requested, then it will be necessary to wait for these results to become available before issuing your report. A copy of your report will be forwarded to your GP unless you indicate otherwise.
If an unexpected finding is identified which requires further attention, you may be referred to your GP for further assessment or may wish to pursue this through The Fortis Clinic. The latter will incur additional fees.

Will I need any follow up appointments?

You will be informed if a follow up appointment is necessary. Most of the time, one will not be required. You may wish to organise a follow up consultation yourself if you wish.
